Biography
Robyn Lyn Evans is from Pont-rhyd-y-groes in Ceredigion, Wales and is a graduate of Trinity College Carmarthen where he was awarded the Stuart Burrows bursary and also a postgraduate of the Royal College of Music, London.
Competitions
Robyn’s singing career started at a young age in the Eisteddfod competitions of Wales with highlights including the National Eisteddfod of Wales scholarship, International Young Singer of the Year Llangollen International Eisteddfod, Osborne Roberts Memorial Prize, Lampeter Eisteddfod Blue Riband; ‘best tenor’ National Mozart Competition; runner-up W Towyn Roberts Memorial Scholarship and culminating with the David Ellis Memorial Prize in 2007.
Opera, Oratorio and Concert
Operatic credits to date include Rodolfo, La Bohème (Opera Project), Don José, Carmen (Scottish Opera); Pinkerton, Madam Butterfly (Raymond Gubbay); cover Tebaldo, I Capuleti e I Montecchi (Opera North); Nemorino, L’elisir d’amore, Gérald, Lakmé and Prince, Rusalka (Swansea City Opera); Il Duca, Rigoletto, Alfredo and Dr Blind Die Fledermaus (Pavilion Opera); Ernesto, Don Pasquale (OPRA Cymru); Ferrando, Cosí fan tutte (Hand Made Opera); Abdallo, Nabucco (Burry Port Opera) and 1st Soldier, L’incoronazzione di Poppea (RCM International Opera School).
He can be frequently heard on the concert platform with countless performances from the standard oratorio repertoire and appearances which have taken him to the Royal Albert Hall, Royal Philharmonic Hall Liverpool, Usher Hall Edinburgh, St David’s Hall Cardiff, as well as guest soloist with choirs touring Europe.
Radio and Television
He is also in demand on radio and television as a performer as well as a vocal commentator for BBC Cymru Television and BBC Radio Cymru (Wales) and recently released his debut solo album entitled ROBYN LYN…tenor.
